Alternative Careers in Photography
I’m excited to be among the talented panel for Alternative Careers in Photography on March 13th! Melissa Hennessy and the Portfolio Center at Columbia College Chicago continue to offer an evolving set of programs designed to help students make well-informed career choices. As a Columbia student, I took full advantage of the resources at the Portfolio Center. As alumni, I’m excited to be included as one of those resources!
For every student who thinks (or knows) they don’t have to be the photographer to make an impact on the photography industry, there are plenty of art buyers, producers, photo editors, digital techs, agents, stylists, gallery owners and curators to validate that career path!
Join us Thursday, March 13th as we hear from a panel of artists who began their careers as photographers and went on to find fulfillment & reward in other areas of the photo industry. Each will speak about their past roles in the industry and how they arrived in their current & very supportive roles in our photo community.
Date: Tuesday, March 18th
Time: Panel 6-7pm, followed by Q&A

Thanks Mother Nature for one last, perfectly timed snow storm! Also big thank you to Jim Beam for giving Lee ( @exphendrix1 ) the courage to stand barefoot in snow and ice this morning!
Happy Monday!! #dawnpatrol #urbansurfers
Lazy, let’s do anything to procrastinate on cleaning, kind of day.
@endlssbmmr missing the mark.
I’ve got to tell you guys about all the amazing things happening over at Susie’s Senior Dogs. So we started this page on a whim last week, for the purpose of placing old dogs in new homes. (And by we, I mean 95% my girlfriend, and 5% me— let’s be honest.) Nearly 100,000 people “liked” the page in 24 hours.
We’ve posted about 11 dogs so far, and 6 of them have been adopted— from all over the country. It’s just been an incredible success. Almost all of these dogs were ten years or older, and many of them had been in shelters for a long time. Check out these pictures of the pups in their new homes. Remember, these guys were sleeping in cages just last week.
From Left to Right: Nina (13), Fancy (12), and Max (10).

Shoutout to my dude @ryandela who I photographed months ago up in Brooklyn for #urbansurfers.
Think he’s currently paddling out in Puerto Rico or some similarly warm location. I’m jealous. #dawnpatrol
Lunchtime skate sesh.
Dropping in for the next round of #urbansurfers is Sean, aka @Es_dot
I put the project on hold to allow Mother Nature some time to change seasons, and now we’re surrounded by falling color.
Stay tuned for more over the coming months as we shoot throughout Fall and Winter.
I’ll also be in Chicago next week where I’m shooting some lake surfers (google GreatLakesSurfer.com) as these guys throw down!
#phillytype big ideas.
