Dropping in for the next round of #urbansurfers is Sean, aka @Es_dot
I put the project on hold to allow Mother Nature some time to change seasons, and now we’re surrounded by falling color.
Stay tuned for more over the coming months as we shoot throughout Fall and Winter.
I’ll also be in Chicago next week where I’m shooting some lake surfers (google GreatLakesSurfer.com) as these guys throw down!
I’ve decided to change my approach to capturing these #phillyshoesonwires since my drone operator is crazy busy shooting a feature. I’m renting out a neighbors bucket utility truck by the hour, which should allow for even greater control over composition and access.
Here’s one of my favorite images captured down at #FDRpark
Friday’s #urbansurfers was a bit unintentionally inspired by the Botticelli, The Birth of Venus.
Thursday morning @roccoavallone and I decided to break the law and hop a fence to capture this. Hetzels Field (located off Frandford ave in Fishtown) is a ball field where my mom played softball and soccer as a young girl. It was common knowledge that this field sucked - void of any resemblance to grass and when you slid into home, you usually ended up with huge scrapes, gashes and tiny pebbles under your skin. The neighborhood has changed.
Thanks Rocco for taking the risk, I’d say it was worth it!
Have a great Friday!
#dawnpatrol (at Hetzels)
Today I’m super excited to share this Friday’s #urbansurfers of Chef Michael Solomonov!! It’s not every day you meet a famous chef, shirtless at 6am carrying his 9’ log across Delaware ave. (I refuse to acknowledge the name Columbus blvd.)
Thanks so much for your time and hooking up that impossible weekend Zahav reservation (our 1year anniversary celebration will be that much more savory)!!
Have a wonderful Friday!!
Today’s a special Labor Day edition of #urbansurfers with Jenna Lynn. She was a little hesitant about posing for the shoot on account of her beginner pink log, but I was able convince her. (Plus her board is totally badass!) It’s not about how hard you shred or how long you’ve been that matters, it’s about doing it.
Thanks and was a real pleasure to meet you, Jenna.
Have a great day everyone. #dawnpatrol
Today’s a special Labor Day weekend edition of #urbansurfers
Not sure about you guys but I certainly wasn’t considering surfing at 5 - well this little girl was. Meet Olivia.
Once again images like this and opportunities to meet people like Olivia is what happily gets me out of bed at 5am.
Stay tuned for next week when I share the famous Philly chef I photographed this morning. One clue - fried chicken!
Have a happy Labor Day Weekend!!
This cloudy morning #urbansurfers is bought to you by Brian ( aka @_amarica_ )
Brian’s a glass blower and chooses to shred under the cover of solitude. Mornings like this, meeting cool and super kind humans is what makes this project so invigorating and inspiring for me.
#stoke on man.
Happy Monday, y’all.
This is one of those #urbansurfers posts I struggle with most: letting the image speak for itself or write something funny/witty about how much more sexy this image couldn’t get - so I’ll just stop right here. Thanks @persicophoto for your time and for having a super rad beach cruiser and having a killer tan and being super awesome. Glad we finally met. #dawnpatrol
